What does "fending off a house fly..." mean?

Question:"It's a bit like fending off a house fly while you're locked in mortal combat with Godzilla."

I am new to English and I don't quite understand what this sentence means. I know what a house looks like and I know a bird can fly. But what is a house fly?

Could someone please explain the whole meaning of this sentence in simple English? This sentence was excerpt from:

Thanks a lot.

Answers:
This is an idiomatic reference to being distracted by small or trivial issues (a house fly) when you are fully engaged in a much larger and more important issue (Godzilla).

The reference to a "house fly" is to a small flying insect that commonly appears in houses. It is not a reference to a house traveling through the air.
