Saying Goodbye to Geometric Proofs?

Question:I think that geometric proofs should not be taught in high school. I think that geometric proofs should be taught only to those majoring in math. Math departments should spend more time helping students solve for x in terms of word problems, searching for missing angles in geometric shapes, etc.

Geometric proofs do nothing more than scare students from developing love and interest for the world of numbers.

Answers:
I took math through 4 semesters of college calculus but I hated doing geometric proofs in HS. But, they were good in teaching you basic logic and how to build an argument. If you can't handle them, then you aren't going to be able to handle anything that comes after them anyway.
lol...yeah...I totally agree. There's no real point to them...unless math is gonna be ur major in college or something. I hate 'em.and no matter how hard I've tried don't get 'em. Save it 4 the math genuises! omg.I so totally agree with u! U rock.thx 4 bringing this up.because proofs bug me tons to.there so stupid!
