i used to lived in Marietta i remember when i was a freshmen a friend of mind drop out he was 15 years old but after 3 days police went to his house because he was to young to drop out so the age to drop out most be 16 and up.
It's called compulsory age of attendance. In Georgia one must either attend school or report intent to homeschool for ages 6- 16. They get ya with the driver's license thing though. If you leave school before 18, you cannot keep a driver's license. She can continue to drive if she's over 16 and under 18 if she homeschools, though. Tell her to go to her county board of education and fill out an intent to homeschool. Parent must sign. Her other option is to test out using the GED. Once she passes it, she's graduated and can have a driver's license. There's nothing wrong with leaving government education to pursue her own path. It's a myth that only school can prepare her for life. If she wants college she will go, when she's ready. If she goes, a GED and the SAT test is all she needs. If she chooses not to go, then leaving school to prepare for what she does want will only help her. If she doesn't know, then the sooner she leaves school to find out, the better. I know many successful people who left school early, found out what they wanted then pursued it. This whole, school is necessary, is societal brain washing at its best. It used to be true back in the 1950's before technology and the wide availability of careers. Today most careers do not require college. They require experience and training. She can get that where she chooses, when she chooses. In the 50's we also used to choose and keep one career. Today it's common for people to have many careers. Why spend tens of thousands of dollars on a career you may not keep? Encourage your friend to follow her path and her dreams and stand by her. She's living her true life.
OMIG wat the hell is wrong with u ppl?? LIE say 18 and then convince her your right so she stays in. everyone hates scool, i in particular, they've done horrible things to me and my mom so im homeschool. if she is ur friend, then be a friend. convince her to stay with u. be creative. jeebus
If you are her friend then you must do all that you can to dissuade her. Tell her to get help if she is having trouble.
What does she expect to do if she drops out? How is she going to support herself? Even if she is rich, she needs an education because then some people will try to take advantage of her and she could end up in jail or broke. What does she want to do? She needs to get some goals and dreams. Anything is possible if you are willing to work at it.
