OKAY, I TRIED TO EMAIL YOU BUT IT DIDN'T WORK, HERE IS A BETTER BREAKDOWN, HOPEFULLY...
sorry for the delay in responding. i'm not sure i understand your question. but i will try to break it down for you. this is the goal in this example:
page 1 - blank
page 2,3 - i, ii
page 4,5 - 1, 2
on page 1 enter a "section break" not a "page break" go to: insert/break/section break/next page
leave page 1 footer box empty, no numbering
on page 2, go to view/headers&footers. you will see a small tool bar open up. switch to view footer. then hold you mouse till you find the button that says "link to previous" if it's highlighted it's on, if not it's not. YOU WANT IT OFF. you can when it's on b/c the footers will be the same from page to page, section to section. that's what it means. now, instead of clicking the regular quick link button to enter the page number. go to: insert/page numbers/format. you will see a drop down list and choose the roman numbers i, ii, iii...
and then make sure to choose what number to start at, choose "i". now you have roman numbers on your footers.
okay, once you type through page 3 your numbers will still be roman numerals. then when you get to page 4, we are switching to regular page numbers. so, first at the end of page 3, insert a "section break/next page"
then, on page 4, go to view headers & footers. you will then make sure to uncheck "link to previous" and insert page numbers and choose the format you want like you did on page 2. hope that is clear!! good luck!
Easy.
Go to...
1) Insert
2) page numbers
3) Uncheck "Show number on first page"
4)Click format next to the OK and Cancel buttons
5) Select roman numerals
6) when you get to the page where you want normal numbers, do the same process, but check the show number on first page box, and select standard numbers as the format.
