Question:i am sophmore and durinf my freshmen year i got bad grades.however during the next year i plan to get better grades .will my freshmen grades make it harder for me to get a scholarship for college,or even not allow me to get in to a good med.school?

Answers:
They will be considered, but bad grades will not preclude you from consideration by colleges. In fact, if you work hard and pull your grades up these last three years, you'll be more desirable to colleges. Admission officers like to see students who struggled in the beginning, then greatly improved, it shows that you work hard.
they definitely will, just get good grades this and next year and make sure to take a flawless sat
It probably will. But they make look at your sudden change in the GPA score. Remember, presentation is key, so act like you're a college grad student-material person
Yes they will, but on most college applications there is a section where you can write about anything else you think the college panel should know about. You can use that space to explain that while you didn't make the best decisions your freshmen year, you realized your mistakes and tried to turn your life around academically speaking.
Im a sophomore too and i got bad grades during my freshman year. Im pretty sure they look at your grades, but at my school they have a cumulative GPA which is basically all your GPA's averaged out through your freshman-senior year. I heard thats what colleges look at. Also, my brother who goes to USC says, colleges look for people that are active in their life, like people who do clubs, sports, or activities. Colleges would rather choose someone who is active and averagely smart than someone who is really smart and non active.
just make better grades and you should be fine
I am familiar with the American Highschool System and understand your concern. It is alright that you got bad grades in Freshmen year but do not keep up those types of grades. Focus on you SAT scores and work to keep your grades of high. Colleges look for good grades but they also look for how you did over time and if you improved over time. They also look at you SAT score, you extra curricular activities like sports and community service. Colleges offer scholarships for all students and as long as you keep improving and be a good all round student you have nothing to worry about. I hope this helps
