Question:I will be babysitting a 1 year old soon. I can't decide how much to charge. I will be watching her for 11.5 hours every week and sometimes 19.5 hours because she works an extra day sometimes. I wanted to either charge hourly or give a set amount for every week with an additional amount for the extra eight hours. What would be a good price?
Also, we live in the Kansas City area and it is $185/week for 45 hours in a daycare.
Answers:
Since this is a young child that requires constant supervision I would charge about $4 per hour.
This will work out to between $50 or $75 a week. It is up to you to decided whether to charge a weekly or hourly rate. I would suggest a weekly rate of $75 (for 20 hours)and if it goes over 20 hours than $4 an hour extra. I would also suggest that you have a vacation clause in the deal. If they go on vacation you get 1/3 or 1/2 pay for the week.
