First of all, enjoy your summer and rest up - you've got a very busy year ahead! I'd say be as organised as possible, with work and time. Time management will be your biggest asset over the year as you will have many deadlines, usually at the same time!
Ask for advice when unsure, your school experiences will be a real learning curve and learn from your mistakes. The mistakes that I made ended up being important - although I hated it at the time!
Workwise there will be a lot to do - theory to learn, the ever changing foundation stage/national curriculum and most important the actual teaching practise. The best teachers I know are like magpies - they steal ideas! Take your camera into school and take snaps of good displays - great for ideas. Photocopy anything you see of use, I keep everything!
Most importantly, when you are in school, mix with the staff as much as possible. The best students we have are the ones who get involved with school life - it looks great on your report! Good luck.
I've got a friend who's a primary school teacher
