What should I get my co-worker for her college graduation?

Question:I have worked with this person for about 2 years now, and we're pretty good friends. We don't hang out much outside of work (although we are going to bingo with a few other co-workers next week). She is graduating next week and I want to get her a gift. (She will be a teacher in the fall teaching grade school). How much should I spend? Any ideas for what I should get her?

Answers:
You can buy stuffed toys with a graduating hat/diploma that would be cute, or even one of those signiture bears so she can remember her uni mates. Sorry i can't give $ value but wouldn't know the costs being from Australia but they are around AU$5-AU$10
What an awesome profession for her to enter. If you're in the States, she must be really dedicated to helping children (as it doesn't pay very well and the education system isn't too great).

How about a "Gift that Gives" from theliteracysite.com ?

http://shop.theliteracysite.com/store/ca...

You can get a "gift" in her honor...these include things like:

Send Two Girls to School in Afghanistan ($20)

School Shoes for Girls in Rural Africa ($14)

Pay a Teacher's Salary in Afghanistan ($40)

School Uniforms for Girls in Rural Africa($25)

Give Books to Children in Nepal ($25)

School Lunch Mercy Kit ($35)

etc.! There are many options within an appropriate price range. A note indicating the gift you've bought in her honor, along with a "good luck" card, might make a really touching and worthwhile gift for her.
That's a very thoughtful gesture! Let's see, how about a teacher's planner? One that allows her to set up her lesson plans for the school year. Or, if there is a Teacher's Market nearby (or Target), you could give her a gift certificate so that she can pick up any extras that she might need for class.
You can get her a gift certificate for a teacher store like Lakeshore so that she can pick out some items to decorate her classroom with.
Get her some money. You can never go wrong with money.
