thats how it usually is at first. all the tension, excitment and adrenaline for high school. i was so nervous and scared when it was the first day. i barely knew anyone except my sister. but chea just calm and relax yourself. everything will be fine the first few days. and on the upperclassmen they will try to take advantage on you. exspecially if your a freshman. take breather and get to know the school more. when u arrive at school instead of going to the cafeteria go and roam around the school. it will come in handy later. the school i go to is all about "gangsters" and everything so there is A LOT more drama. dont try and involve yourself in those things. cause it will get you into a lot more trouble. dont be shy and meet new people.it will help u know more people at school. dont act like someone your not to "fit in". be yourself. and people will see the true side of you. cause if your not yourself and you give people the wrong impression bad things will happen and you will catch yourself in a hole. so just be cool.yourself. and outgoing. things should turn out right for you in the end. just watch out for the upperclassmen. exspecially the guys.
Seriously, high school really isn't that scary. Just don't sit at any tables that have been taken already and you'll be fine.
High School has been fun for me.In my freshman year I was just myself, and didn't bring attention to my self.I would say it is a little bit harder than 8th grade, but nothing to worry about it.The trick is getting used to it, and you'll get the hang of it.Be nice to everyone, and that includes the teachers. It's less scary then people say it is.You'll have fun!
dont worry so much about it. After tomorrow, you will have a great understanding of how your teachers and school operates, Bring a small backpack with some paper for the first day, and then they will let you know rather quickly what you need. Just dont make the mistake of falling asleep in class , or skipping school. Try to stay focused on school as much as you can. But dont worry so much, 9th grade isnt that hard. College, you have to worry about.
I'm a Junior in high school.
My advice? Don't take more than what you can handle but challenge yourself--push past your limits. Keep on top of your homework and don't procrastinate. If you aren't sure on something then ask the teacher--what other place to get help for a class than the person teaching it? Take good notes and fit in adequate study time for your classes. Use your planner handed to you by the school and don't use it. I would not advise blowing off on your academics but get into some extra-curriculars as well. Most importantly, don't make high school work, work, work--include some fun time in.
Also, as far as school supplies go--bring the basics that you know you will need. Your teachers will give you a more detailed list once you get into the classes. Something I advise you to bring and buy are tissue boxes. Teachers at my school have a habit of making that a homework assignment. Not sure where you are, though.
Also, classes are not social hour. Neither is study hall.
I was a Freshman last year in high school, and It was the best year out of the 9 grades I had.
i want to start school already!! i'm sooo bored!!! i start school on sept.5th... i usually don't prepare myself..i go to school with a small backpack(1st day only) and see what the teacher requires to bring to class..making friends is sooooooo easy to do, since it's a new school. just say.

Well in high school, things are a lot bigger. Like the students, teachers, and buildings. You also get more homework than junior high but don't let that get you down. Millions of students like you are entering high school for the first time. And it can be scary. But just relax. Just be yourself and you can make some life-long friendships. You can make some friends by joining in some after school clubs and sports. And also just by talking to the person beside of you. You can compliment on something they have to strike up a conversation. Also, in high school, you know you have more homework than junior high. So be prepared to do that. Be organized and don't procrastinate. Doing that will make you feel behind in your classes and you can't catch up. Just pay attention to your teacher's lectures, take good notes, and do your homework first before crashing onto the computer. Have a schedule with you or a to-do list. Prioritized your things and tackle big assignments one at a time. And have some fun too. High school is one of the best years of your life. Make it like that and you will enjoy high school.
When I was a sophomore last year, I was scared too. I was the shortest person in my high school. But I got used it and now, I'm used to being around taller people.
good luck!
its no different then middle school
ur still with the same people so ull still have the same friends and know the same people and the classes r a little harder but u just gotta work a little harder and ull do fine
1. Keep your head up high, don't show-off too much
2. Don't be a hoe!
3. Don't bring a backpack on the first day, your not a geek
4. Bring a purse you ain't gonna do anything special on the first day
5. Don't think it's cool to not do your homework and be bad
6. Smile and talk to people around you in classdon't be sad if you don't have friends the first day
7. Once you get close to someone invite them to sit with you in lunch and talk
8. Don't overdo it your first day, just look nice and better than everyone else but not to good
9. Never ever let someone put you down, sign of weakness in high school is a bad thing
10. Get involve, sports, clubs, events, run for class president...believe me it helps a lot
11. Show your school pride during pep rally, don't be afraid to do something cuz you think you'll look stupid
12. No drugs or alcohol-don't talk ****
13. Finally be your own unique person, everyone will love you for that
Good luck on your first day, don't be surprised if things go wrong they usually do
well, make sure you have all your summer projects completed. *First Marking period is always hectic, so you want to get as much work done as possible before school starts, don't procrastinate, it's more stressful doing things last minute.
*Make sure you know the layout of the school. High schools in general are larger with more classes. You can get lost and end up late to class. Teachers during the first week will give you some slack if your late, but after that they won't.
*Huge book bags aren't a good idea for 2 reasons.
1. they will not fit in your locker.
2. You can't carry then around the school.
3. They look a little bleh...which can cause your peers to jeer at you, making your high school experience a little miserable.
*Listen to announcements and always check by your guidance counselor for new programs that include scholarships, clubs, and events. In high school you are expected to do, and know everything yourself. No school authority will remind you that there is a club meeting, even, or anything like that.
*Get involved. There are many clubs and programs out there. Clubs and programs introduce you to new friends and people. Also it looks good on your college application...Like I joined ROTC and German club. I met many people and had lots of fun.
and that's just about it. Oh yeah, join fundraisers. There's a whole bunch of benefits.
OK to your 1st Q:It really depends on (A,what classes you're taking,(B,Where your locker is and if its convenient to go there and still get to class, and (C Its the 1st week, don't worry if you over load.
I find it better to have a messenger bag because it takes up less space and can sometimes hold more than a regular backpack(depending on how organized you are =) )
Tips for friends:1)Meet people in your 1st class, there may be a chance they may have classes with you.2)Make friends with upperclassmen, they can be helpful with just about anything. And I mean just about anything...
Several of the others indicated not to panic I would agree and the first day will let you know exactly what you will need. Pay attention and most of all relax. Keep in mind teachers are observing your behavior and they wuickly pick up on who is who. I would suggest to make sure you determine what type of student you want to be because freshman year is nothing like 8th grade and normally you get a fresh start at creating who you want to be. Good luck and relax.
First of all don't try to fit in with everyone else. Be your own individual self. Also don't slack off from work because you will deal with the worst of consequences. Summer school is worse than a normal school year so do it right the first time. Stay organized and complete all assignments. Make sure you take all the extra curricular activities you like for a good look on your resume when you start working.
lol. I'm a freshie gal too. Surviving highschool is so tough. Especially now that my girls are gone. The number one tip in surviving highschool is having your friends with you because they are your protectors and they will make you happy.
