I have a southern accent and i don't get up set if your trying to help me but if your trying to be rude i do get upset b/c it seems your trying to be little me.

The same reason anyone would get upset or annoyed when they are corrected..
The art of speaking Southern and speaking incorrectly are two different things. I hear a NY accent and the same things apply.
The south is a state of mind in that people take things a little slower and talk a little slower. Many Universities in the south (and there are many of them) have graduates that have that southern slang. Most of our presidents have had that same accent.. so where did you go to college?
