6th= beginning Algebra
7th= pre-Algebra
8th= Algebra
9th= Geometry

11th= advance topics in math (ATP)
12th= ( usually only three maths are required in high school but some kids take a fourth math so they take if school offers it College Algebra if they don't then)
Freshmen college= College Algebra
2nd semester= pre- calculus or statistics
sophomore college= Calculus

then comes analytical geometry with calculus applications 1&2.
of course at college level you can stop ones your degree requirement is met.
Also in middle school it depends on if you are in honer or regular.
Regular go one class behind honers
I posted the honers ones since I was in honer classes.
Good Luck** ;)
also after high school it depends on your SAT/ACT scores. if you don't score high enough then you might have to take lower classes. like my friend does not test well so she had to start over with Beginning Algebra at the college. if you score lower then 500 something then you have to take
Pre Algebra
Beginning Algebra
Intermediate Algebra
then College Algebra
I took pre-algebra in 8th grade, algebra I in 9th grade and algebra II in 11th grade.

For most people, Freshman year in high school.

If you lived in Japan... it'd be third or fourth grade...
so its relative... if you feel able, I say go for it :)
8th grade
simple algebra is taught as early as the 4th grade. standard algebra usually is taught in the 7th and 9th grades. Federal education standards have state testing that takes place around the 9th grade year that must be passed.
Yeah, the standard time is 9th grade; most kids at my school are advanced to take it in 8th, and some qualify to take it in 7th. But then again, some teachers at the elementary school like to teach small groups algebra in 6th grade, and my parents scoff at American Algebra I as what they'd done in 4th grade.
I learned pre algebra in 7th grade.
I think algebra is usually taught in the 9th grade (1st year of high school in America). It depends on the student, though. If you have to take pre-algebra in the 9th grade instead...you better do that. It's always better to be a little bit behind and understand than to be ahead and be clueless.
Damned if I know, I never went to school.
im in 7th grade and never got taught that

Algebra is usually introduced in the 7th or 8th grade.
But bear in mind that algebra is a subject that never ends. Doctorates are awarded for good work in algebra. Some algebraic questions are posed and remain unsolved for 300 or more years.
Don't expect to "know" algebra. Learn the method of algebra.
I had algebra in the 9th grade. Geometry in the 10th and second year algebra in the 11th grade.
Although I did not take it pre-calculus and trig would have been in my senior year.
I had algebra in 8th grade, but most people in my school had it in 9th grade.
I learned Algebra in 7th grade... but I was in advanced math class, usually it is 8th grade, but some schools do it in 9th

i learned it in 7th
In my school pre-algebra is taught in 7th grade and algebra 1 is taught in 8th grade but some kids are choosen to go to algebra 1 in 7th grade so algebra is usually taught in 8th grade.
