Whining and crying most likely won't work with determined parents. You need to convince them in a calm, rational manner that makes it seem this is a mature decision.
Perhaps, start by saying that you're feeling stressed enough by your own schoolwork that this extra class isn't what you need. Show an active interest in Poland (by doing research from books and the internet and asking your parents about their life in Poland) to prove you don't need these classes to remain connected with your roots.
tell them you don't want to segregate yourself from other cultures and that you'd like a more diversified education than you could get at polish school..
Try to reason with them. The best way I think you should do is get very good grades and show them that you don't need to go to polish school. Show them that you don't need to go there and if that doesn't work ask them why they are sending you to it.
I know you're probably not going to like this advice - but I think you should go.
With the world we live in become more and more globalized and multicultural, it's a tremendous shame when people lose opportunities to be multi-lingual. I'm sure you already speak Polish, but reading and writing skill are going to be something you are so thankful for when you're older.
I'm telling you this from experience. I didn't want to go when I was younger and now, although I speak, I am not very literate and regret it. I'm 24 so it's too late for me to pick it up with ease!
If you REALLY don't want to do it, compromise with your parents. Tell them that you work very hard during the week and would like to enjoy the weekends. However, you are willing to take lessons or use a workbook to brush up your Polish literary skills during winter and summer holidays, when things are less hectic.
Please take what I said to heart and give it a shot!
Tell them that If you go to Polish school then your grades at real school might suffer, ask them what is more important you learning Polish or you getting good grades so that yo can do something out of your lives, you migfht get other chances to learn Polish, bt you only go to school once. You could also tell your parents that instead of going to school somebody in your extended family or friends teach youthat makes it less akward and easier to learn.
But Also I think that you should go,in whatever way suits you in our world it is very important to be multi-lingual.
I had the same feeling as you when my parents told me to go to learn Arabic. But I realized that It was a great oppurtionity for me. For only 45 minitues a day , I don't go on weekends.
If this doesn't work then try to compromise tell them that saturday+sunday is too much maybe just Saturday or just Sunday. Also maybe you only go in the summer. That could work because sometimes in the summer sometimes it feels like you have too much time. You COULD ALSO SAY THAT INSTEAD OF 4 HOURS ON sATURDAY AND sUNDAY HOW ABOUT just a Hour every day, or 45 minitues a day and a hour and a half or 2 hours on the weekends.
Hope this helped.
