If you get to choose your seat, sit in the first or second row. Sit up straight, lean forward slightly, listen closely, and ask at least one question during each class. Even if the question does not seem particuarly "smart," when you think of it, it at least shows you're interested and paying attention, so you make the teacher aware of you. You can dazzle them with your brilliance later on.
Hope this helps - good luck!
You might try getting to know your teachers a little. That's the easy part. Most people like to talk about themselves. Just ask questions! And listen. Take mental notes. Or record them so you can remember the details.
On that note, go get yourself a digital voice recorder. You can record each class and then go over what was done in class afterwards. Repetition is the key. This is a good skill to master before you go to college if that's where you end up.
Do you know the story of Michael Jordan? How he sucked at basketball and went on to become one of the greatest all-time players in professional ranks! How did he do it? Repetition. He showed up early for practice. He practiced harder than anyone else. He stayed late. Time well spent some might argue.
As for the classes you're not so good at. Try finding things about those classes that interest you. Look for the good. English: write about things you are interested in and your writing will improve. Social studies: look for interesting things to you that happened in history and then tie them in with the things your teacher is focusing on. For example, one of my ancestors fought in the American Revolution so it just made studying it all the more interesting.
Science: depends on the exact science. Take physics for example. You can always ask questions like "what makes the world rotate around the sun at the speed it does?", "what makes the Earth sit at the angle on it's axis that it does?", "what makes the Earth spin around at the speed it does?", "what is the purpose of the moon?"
Even if the question sounds silly ask it. That hardly means you have to embarrass yourself in front of the class. One on one with the teacher will show them that you are interested and when they see that they'll go out of their way to help you in many cases.
Poopy, three below me, says to sit up front (first row) or in the T. The top of the T is the first row. The line down from the T is the center row of the classroom. Those students generally do better. Also think about being at the ends of the top of the T. These are the power seats in the classroom. Especially if when people look towards you there is a window behind you. Power plus better grades isn't a bad choice to make.
Always ask questions. Put in that little extra effort. More importantly, figure out what your passion in life is. What do you really want for your life when you become an adult?
That may not be what other people tell you it is. This is the most important question you should ask yourself. And it's one that you will have to answer for yourself.
Forget the direction others try to lead/push you in. Figure out your own map of life and take a compass in case you get lost along the way. So what is your passion?
think before you speak to your teacher, speak in a firm tone and throw in word from a thesaurus .
To start with it's you're ,so you have a long way to go.
It sounds like you're already pretty smart by wanting to impress your teachers and do better. Actions speak louder than words, so show them how smart you are. Behave and always speak with respect. That's the first and most important impression you can make on them. You'll find that all subjects may not come as easy as another. Continue to ask your teacher for help if you don't understand. A smart person doesn't give up and just miss an answer, they get to the root of misunderstanding it and fix the problem. Teachers want you to pass and can't read your mind. Let them know when you don't understand or having a problem.
