Ask your friends what they are doing... when i'm not sure if I should bring a back pack I usually bring a kind of big purse with my keys and wallet (in case I want to hang with friends after school) . but if u had a school list with like everything u needed like binderss and stuff I would bring a backpack... hope I helped... good luck! Oh man, I struggled everyday with this when I was in school. Every year I facedthat same dilemma! What I eventually ended up doing was just taking a notebook or a folder with paper to write on. There was no sense in taking a bookbag when all they do is give you all this paperwork to take home and look over lke syllabus. So I would see what my friends were doing but really for me it was just easier to carry a notebook or folder than a bookbag. Some schools dish out the books the first day but most will do it on the actual first day of class.
My first year of high school is coming up and i don't know either. But for middle school i brought a notebook, forgot my pencil, and my emergency contact information. Some people bring their backpacks but they have to hold on to them all day until they get their lockers. so don't bring a backpack. In eighth grade we sat in our homebases (homeroom whateva) and we were in there for like three hours then we went to lunch and then we had a beginning of the year speech in the auditorium for like two hours. So really you don't need it.
