I agree, I have to wear a uniform to a public school as well. It's a huge pain in the neck. I understand uniform for private schools, but it;s just stupid in public schools.
I hate uniforms to and my school says it is a "safety precaution" but i think it is total bs and one shirt is like $40, damn with $40 I could buy a really good shirt instead of a ugly uniform shirt
ok i understand what you are saying but i work in a school that has school uniforms and i think it is wonderful... i work at a public school as well...i think uniforms give the teachers and students to work on academics and not have to worry about gang stuff or inappropriate clothes like mini skirts or showing too much cleavage or something like that just my opinoin...
well, first of all, school uniforms are usually cheaper than other "popular" clothes kids want today.
secondly, I went to a public school with uniforms, and it wasn't that bad. I think it actually helped erase some social barriers caused by clothing brands and fashion.
so get over it.
p.s. my school also had a uniform pool for kids who needed help obtaining uniform clothes. I even got some one year when my dad got laid off. It's a great system.
all the ppl who answer to this should sign a petition and rid us of this problem
The purpose of uniforms is to make clothing less of a distraction in schools. In a public school you have problems with kids wearing clothes that are too revealing, clothes that contain offensive language or statements, and clothes that are otherwise distracting to the educational process. By having everyone wear uniforms, you also help to minimize the class distinctions that happen based on who is wearing the right or wrong labels and you avoid situations where kids are getting hurt because someone else wants their expensive shoes or other articles of clothing.
I agree that uniforms prevent an expression of individuality, but I don't think this is a bad thing in a learning environment.
