What is the difference between a "high school" and a "collegiate institute"?

Question:For instance, my school is called Humberside collegiate institute not Humberside High School?

Answers:
High School is traditionally grades 9-12 and college is usually any grade higher than 12. I think that your school might be a type of high school that offers advanced classes that are on a college level. This would be good for you as long as you can meet the demanding schedule. you will end up ahead of your peers once you reach college.
