What is a semester?

Question:I am going in to grade 9 in September and I am in Canada so I started going to high school in grade 8. I have decided to change high schools this year and the new school is a semester. The other school I was attending was all year same subjects. So, what the hell is a semester? Is it harder then an all year subjects or a bit easier in a way? Thanks, best answer gets 10 points.

Answers:
Semester means terms...like in my school there r 3 terms that means semester...in first term we have some lessons...n in the 2nd term some lesson +first 1st term...n in the 3rd term means 1st term + 2nd term+ 3rd term means the whole boook .relay horrible.. n me in 9Th tooooooo...goooood luck..
Semesters just divide the school year into two halves, so theres a fall and spring semester. At most schools, mine included, you take your four core classes for both semesters, but you get to pick different electives each semester, so you technically get to take more classes than schools with all year subjects.
normally exam is comming in one time in year

but in sem evey 6 month exam come.. so in one year there r 2 final exam.

each sem contain 4 or 5 subject...
so if we fail onely 6 month is west
A semester is half the year. So a semester class would be for half the year, not the full year like some regular classes. They could be easier, or harder, it depends on the class. I don't really like semester classes, because if you dig yourself into a hole and do poorly, you have less time to get out and get back on track.
