u think u hv. but actually no. it is agreed tt u may hv lost an argument but its not your dignity. besides parents, u can talk abt it in class and see how others react. make a debate abt it so others can give their version of the argument. many will still be on your side. or just keep quiet and carry on. probably ignore him for a while till he realized his mistake in bantering with teacher. or joke abt it. brave enough, u shall be. equip yourself with additional knowledge
take care
He is just a child and you are an adult. Don't worry about him. Just call his parents they'll deal with him.
im not a teacher but my best guess is when that class starts go over the rules and regulations and state that disrespecting a teacher is againsst those rules---or it should be:( if he says one wrong thing send him to the principals office. im in college now and i dont think its right for any student to intterupt learning time..maybe if things get worse set up a conference with the parents and the prinicipal and yourself if thats possible. good luck...
you don't lose their respect by letting him insult you.you lost it by stooping to his level.
instead of letting him get to you, simply move on and next time an encounter occurs, simply toughen up, look him right in the eye and say "one more word and you're in the office."
your students don't have to like you, but they need to respect you.
make sure you keep your authority in that room. that's number one.
there is respect with that. if you stoop to his level again, then you will be humiliated and lose all authority AND respect.
next time, just send him to the office or ignore his comments, then ask him to stay after class and give him detention.
dont' mess aroud with these kids. show them who's boss, but be there for them too.
EDIT:
don't recite rules and policies to them.
simply go about the day as if nothing happened today.
if that's not possible, then target the kid. call him out.drill him with questions and make him look unprepared.
ask a Q and then instead of calling on someone with their hand up, call on him. he doesn't know..."im sorry, i wasn't aware that i had made the reading assignment optional. everyone, from now on, when i assign something it is NOT optional. i expect it to be completed ON TIME. that way class doesn't have to be disruppted by unprepared people and responses that are a waste of everyone's time."
your point will get across loud and clear.
Well i guess u could put a thumb tack on his chair. that could be pay back! i wouldn't do that tho. make him sing in class. or something like that. that would embaress him. idk be creative!
