Is it possible to be held back in 9th grade?

Question:I got way more absences then I was allowed to get so I was wondering do I get held back or do I not receive credits and go into 10th grade?

Answers:
It depends on your school. Most times, they just ding your citizenship grade and your record. They only hold you back if your grades are too low.
I think you need... 5 credits to be considered a "sophmore" however, as long as you passed English, you may be able to graduate in 4 years; but you won't have a easy senior year.
it is possible to be held back but only if you failed the classes and it depends on the individual school to decide how many inexcused absences equals a failing grade.my school it is 6 but...you can not fail for excused absences
Depends on the school/state.

In mine, you would just have to retake the classes you failed, not the whole grade.

Abscences usually only lead to a fine.
