How do high schools organize the roll for all of the classrooms? Is there some sort of computer program?

Question:Or maybe a datbase or something? I ask because I am looking into tracking attendace to events/meetings at the org I work for. Any ideas?

Answers:
At the high school where I work, the teachers take roll on their computer and submit it electronically to the attendance clerk. I know some of the attendance progams out there can give you a list of how many absences and/or tardies a student has had in each class period and total periods missed for the grading period or all year. Different schools use different programs. I am only on my 4th year of teaching and have used 3 different systems. Try asking someone at your local high school what system they use and how it works. They can probably give you contact info if you want to get it.
