What's the difference between imparfait and passe compose?

Question:give examples please.. thanks

Answers:
Oh gosh, i hated learning this. The best tip that my french teacher gave me was to use passe compose for actions that you can physically take a snapshot and use imparfait for events that you cannot take a physical snapshot of. For example, you can take a picture of someone swimming, eating, or running so in a situation like that, you should use passe. If someone felt a certain way, if they liked something, loved someone or anything of the sort, use imparfait. Hope that helped!
