It's been mooted. I'm not sure if the change has happened yet. It would be good news for mums and dads (less work for them to do)!
nope it aint true.. it is true that next year people won't have to do course work anymore...
I believe that this year is the last year that coursework is included in the assessment. I don't understand how you can study Maths, or most other subjects, without doing coursework. The problem is that what was termed "coursework" was actually mini-exams administered by the school. In my opinion a coursework assessment should be based on all the work done throughout the course. Then if pupils get help, so what. It means that they will have learnt more during the course.
There will always be course work to do because without that a student will have no basic knowledge of the subject in question.
What may well be true is that the coursework will not be assessed as a part of the course - other than within an examination.
yeah cause its too easy to cheat now!
For the GCSE in Maths there will be no coursework element for those students who begin the course from September 2007. Those currently in Years 10 and Years 11 will still have coursework to complete.
However, in Statistics GCSE coursework will still be a major aspect of the course and examination requirements.
the truth is, if you have started your Maths GCSE before the start of next year of school, you will be doing Maths coursework but if you start year 10 next year you will not, i got lucky and I am in year 10 this year so i will be doing coursework. If you are in year 9 or below now, you will not take coursework. I hope that this helps
no, i think that next year or the year after, but at the moment i think its 20% coursework and 80% exam. Personally i'd rather not do coursework cos i find exams easier, but....o well
No that is definetly not true but there is the new thing means that pupils in yr9 who are in top set now do start their GCSE'S earlier than everyone because normally you do your GCSE'S over yr 10 and yr11 but they do it in yr9 and yr10 meaning they can get an extra GCSE in maths afterwards if you want
There is truth in all these answers.
In general, those in year 10 / 11 now will do coursework. Everyone else won't.
Yes, if you are currently in year 9 and are being "entered early" then you will do coursework because you are entering for the same exam as the current year 10.
If you are below year 9, you will not do coursework even if you are entered early.
The exam boards have not yet decided what will replace coursework but...... something will, it may be an extra exam paper so don't think you will escape!
And yes, coursework is going because too many people have been cheating.
