I'm not sure what you mean by easier. I teach both grades, and the difference I see is the level of maturity. Freshmen are still very much embroiled in the growing up process, caught somewhere between childhood and "teenagerhood." In 9th grade I see a lot of tattling and hysteria, characteristics left over from the middle school experience I suspect. The same students show up as 10th graders (same room, same teacher), more mature and able to handle minor day-to-day
crises. By 11th grade, when I see them in the hallways and at lunch, the change is so startling I barely recognize them anymore! So hang in there; your time will come.
It really depends on the school you go to and the teachers. Personally i thought it was a breeze. When you start off as a freshmen everything is unfamiliar, but when youre a sophomore you kinda get into the habit of working in a high school environment.
