I'm going to do 13. In my school the compulsory ones are English, Science, Maths and RE. I'm taking English language and literature (1 GCSE) Science triple award (3 GCSEs), Maths (2 GCSEs). Because it is a Catholic school you also have to do RE and the top set are allowed to do an additional philosophy GCSE (2 GCSEs). We are also allowed 3 extra subjects of our choice so, presuming you took all the above listed you would have 11 GCSEs. I also took an early Spanish GCSE and may take an extra product design GCSE.
There are setbacks though, because there are so many exams and classes, timetables clash and you don't always get the subjects you wanted: I couldn't do the three I first picked and if there is one vacancy it can ruin the whole system. Anyway, in my school they are thinking of putting the no. of GCSEs down to 7. Congratulations on your results. Look at Oxford and Cambridge's websites to see if you would fit their criteria. Good luck.
I've already started 3 last year, when i was in year 9, and at the end of year 11, i'll come out with 11. we got to drop 4 subjects and pick 4 new ones.
Thanks,
If i get picked as best, you'll get plenty of stars!
