What is English 9?

Question:I know this is going to sound odd me not knowing but I'm out of school,and my neice is in high school she's a freshman.She told me her schedule and I had no idea what English 9 was.

Is it just the same thing as english? lol.

its just freshman english. just regular english. like freshman are in grade 9, sophmores are grade 10, ect. next year she will probably take english 10.

each year it might say english10, then11 and finally 12.

It means 9th grade English. It's basically like freshman english, but they keep changing the names of regular classes. Schools do dumb stuff like calling gym/phys ed something stupid like, "Vitality Maintenance class"
