Blog of American sex educator on fact-finding tour round Europe, including trip to Netherlands
Answers:
Being Dutch, I have to confirm it: we are strange people. We do what actually works. Sorry.
Well, I'm very much against putting young girls on hormonal contraception unless it's something they want and are ready for.
However I do think we should be less prudish about sex and our bodies. A more open and direct attitude would help a lot.
My daughters are only very young but I'll be telling them everything they need to know and won't feel embarassed doing it (they might but I dont care lol).
Sex ed also shouldn't be a one off hour lesson because we're only human and forget stuff. There should be an ongoing program that starts from a very early age and gets more graphic as the children grow up.
no, the dutch are strange people, why would we want to be like them, and force others to be like them. thats like forcing an vegitarian to eat a Big Mac.
