You are doing fine, don't worry about it. I am close to fluent in Spanish (I understand everything), but sometimes I self-conscious when it comes to speaking it to someone who speaks it as their first language (either in the U.S. or when talking to a native of a Spanish-speaking country). Most of my insecurities come from my accent and pace. However, I have learned over the years that this insecurity is normal. Your friend (and others in the class) might be just as nervous but aren't admitting it.
You might consider studying after class or school with your friend so you are less nervous when in class with her. It will help you learn the language and be more comfortable!
Good luck :)
Don't worry about it. Everyone has problems pronouncing words from a foreign language no matter what level they are in. In time you will get more and more used to saying the words and your teachers will help you. My Spanish teacher 2 years ago told us to watch the Spanish channel for 10 minutes a night and right down 10 words we recognize do that for a week and then the next week watch for 15 minutes a night and right down 15 words and so on. This should help familiarize you with the pronunciation of the words and also how they are used in context
Just relax, everyone else is going to be having the same problems
