Question:the school i go is the strictest private school in CA and they have the strictest rules, you even have to wear a uniform. what do you think they would do if someone brought a pocket knife (with a real blade) to school, but didn't do anything bad with it, just had it lying there? what would they do?

My school isn't all that strict, but for having a weapon (or a potential weapon) you would at least get a week or two of suspension.
Detention, or most likely suspension if they thought you could be dangerous with it. My tip is to never bring those kind of things to school no matter what.

They'd give you detention or they'd suspend you. Cause someone might find it and use it.
i think that they would expel you to be honest. don't risk it!
