First of all let me go ahead and say that I am not a parent so I may not be as helpful as you like.
That being said, I believe that a parent knows their own children better than anyone else. If you think your child is not ADD then there is a good chance he isn't. Unfortunately, there are a few people who work in our education system that are not very qualified. When a child does not respond to their teaching methods it is sometimes easier to blame the child rather than looking to see what they can do to help. I would probably wait to see what this new school year brings. A different teacher may make a big difference. Also check to make sure that the work is the right skill level for your child. If it is either too difficult or easy the child may become unresponsive in the classroom which can be mistaken for a behavior problem. Most importantly talk to your son, he is a child but he will be honest about his feelings on why he is acting this way. If all else fails, take your son to be tested. Just be cautious about getting your son tested, if he is diagnosed with ADD or ADHD this label will follow him the rest of his academic career, which he may not like later on in life. Also do not forget to talk with his teacher for this year, maybe if you can come up with a game plan together it will help. Good luck and I hope my advice maybe helped a little.
talk to your doctor, and find a way to be able to view how your child reacts in classes and talk to an ADD specialist. Go from there.
If you are being honest with yourself in your assessment of your son's behavior then I would wait. He will have another teacher this year and use that time to see if it was the environment or really a problem for him.
Most kids don't respond well to incinsistency or yelling. That may be his problems. Besides if you start out the year and you find your are running into the same problems as last year then you know that it may be an issue with him. Then have him tested.
