I can totally understand what you're going through and how worrying it is. I was really struggling to get all of my daughters uniform for her to start secondary school at the beginning of term. Everything is so highly priced and has to come from the school or a certain shop. Even the skirt has to be a certain one so you cant even get away with buying that at the supermarket.
In some areas of the Country government funding is available Try getting in touch with the council to see if you could qualify for a School Uniform Grant.
Unfortunately that isn't available in my area. So, in the end I had to swallow my pride and I got in touch directly with the school asking if they had a second hand or nearly new shop or any form of payment plan so that I could spread the cost. The school was fantastic and supplied all of the uniform that had to come directly from them totally free of charge. It was all brand new as well. I didn't have to struggle to get half of her uniform or any of her PE kit. All I've had to find the money for is her skirt, shirts and shoes.
I would strongly recommend that you get in touch with the school as soon as you can- the teachers are usually back at school a day or two before term starts. If they are a good, caring and understanding school and can see that you are genuinely struggling then they will help work out a solution with you. Give it a try, I'm sure something can be worked out.
school uniforms is not cool
havent got kids but can't you get way with buying some of the stuff cheaper in the supermarkets and that as they seem quite cheap, like in asda they have the white shirts for only 2.50. sorry i cant help any more, - sounds like a bloody rip off though.
You should talk to the school, if you are having difficulties I'm sure they will help you or make allowances.
sorry to hear of this situation. have a word with the school they may be able to spread the costs for you or allow a certain amount of crossover time especially in your situation ( my kids school did this for me) you may also be able to get a grant from the council. if you get no joy from the head have a word with the school governors pointing out to both that your children are happy to wear the new uniform but you have financial restraints and to wear any other form may cause your children to be bullied and called names, believe me i've been in that situation!! perhaps a chat with the education officer may also help as i know they can suspend kids for being in incorrect uniform, good luck with it all!
