akon=a-con=a convict
Because he is a convict. His name Akon comes from "A convict".
cuz thats the name of his record label
because he is an idiot.
The reasoning behind that is , Akon was a convict ... You know A-con, that's where the name Akon came from..
because that's what he was before he got out of jail and started singing his great songs.
Yeah, annoying but maybe its a reminder of wher he came from to where he is now. I guess if he's doing as good as he is now he deserves to say whateva now!
Akon has collaborated with several hip-hop artists who are also fresh out of prison such as the Grady Bakers.
He has a company called Convict Music and they are rehabilitating a lot of prisoners who are trying to come out and change for the better.
Akon stated, "When you come out of prison and they find out you’re a convicted felon you can’t get a decent job. A lot of times people want to change but they can’t cause society won’t let them do it. What they end up doing is what got them into prison in the first place in order to survive. So we started Convict Music for a lot of kids that come out. I saw a lot of talented brothers when I was in there, and thought they would be huge if they came out and got on. So we’re not dealing with knuckleheads, we’re dealing with cats who want to come out and change. As far as Styles P, when we were getting ready to put out “Locked Up” it was ironic that he was locked up and just getting out of jail. This record came out of my real life experience and is personal to me. I wasn’t trying to just put a big name on it so it would sell. All of the songs are written in diary form because I made them for my own personal listening. So I heard that he liked the record and wanted to be on it. I thought that it would be good to look at the situation from a Hip-Hop standpoint as well as an R&B standpoint. Had he not gotten locked up, he probably would not have been on this record."

Ugh.
I like Akon.
He sings good!
Akon.. CONvict.. duh figure it out.
As you probally know, Akon releases the majority of his music under the "rap" genre.
If you know a little history about this platinum rapper, you would find out that he was arrested and incarsarated for a crime in his younger adult life. Soon after he started his career as a hip-hop artist, and believe it or not, he calls his recording company. "Konvict Music," no doubt playing on the use of his name "Akon" which can be mistaken as "a con." Konvict = Convict.
Saying "Konvict" at the begining of a song is simply Akon's way of saying that he is either in the song, or produced it.
Hope this was helpful, and... I think its a nice touch rather than "annoying."
