If you don't understand where your government and society come from, you won't truly understand your own country/society today. And if you have no idea where you are today, then how can you possibly create a tomorrow -- that takes planning and foresight..If you don't know where you are, then you won't know how to get where you are going.
Ever been lost? You say, How do I get to Main Street? The first thing the other person says is, OK, where are you now? Without knowing your location, that person can't give you accurate information to get where you are going.
He's saying it is the same for a country/government. If you have no concept of what you want your government to be, you'll spend your time running in circles or spinning your wheels. You can't make it to a new place if you don't even understand where you are now.
Viet Nam could be an example. When we went in, we really didn't have a desired end result "this is why we are here and this is important"...It was more like, "We just want to keep this nation from falling under the power of communism" but we didn't know how to fight over there. In the far East, they have different war tactics, and we didn't adequately prepare for a prolonged stay in Viet Nam. I'd recommend looking up the history of the Viet Nam "Conflict" and see if it fits the criteria you need for your paper.
I'm trying to think of other things, if I come up with any, I'll edit. But I wanted to give you the explanation so that you can get the wheels turning on your end. Good luck if I don't find anything else.
Simple you have to have come from somewhere in order to be where you are ...hence remember where you come from
If you don't learn from the past, you will make the same mistakes in the future, and NO, I wont do your homework for you. NICE TRY!!
