You will never find a date for when he said it because he never said it. It is a quote that is falsely attributed to Lenny Bruce because it sounds like something he might have said.

The true origin of the quote is a mystery.
Lenny Bruce (October 13, 1925 - August 3, 1966), born Leonard Alfred Schneider, was an American stand-up comic and political satirist.

Take away the right to say f***and you take away the right to say f*** the government.
was said BY Lenny Bruce, but he wasn't the person to say it originally.

He used that line in many of his gigs, but he always told people that HE wasn't the one to think it up - but he sure as f***, wished he had....

~~Satire is tragedy plus time. You give it enough time, the public, the reviewers will allow you to satirize it. Which is rather ridiculous, when you think about it.~~
