You've got to rent this movie! When I was a kid, they showed it on TV once a year, especially after COLOR TVs came on the scene. Based on the L.Frank Baum stories, Dorothy and her dog Toto are caught in a tornado's path. She gets knocked out by a flying window and in her reverie ends up in the land of Oz. Here she meets some memorable friends and foes in her journey to meet the Wizard of Oz who everyone says can help her return home and possibly grant her new friends their goals of a brain, heart and courage.
When she lands in Oz with a plunk, she gazes at Toto and says:
Dorothy: Toto, I've
Dorothy: a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.
I also loved this scene...
Dorothy: It really was no miracle. What happened was just this.
Dorothy: The wind began to swish / The house, to pitch / And suddenly the hinges started to unhitch / Just then the Witch / To satisfy an itch / Was flying on her broomstick, thumbing for a hitch.
Munchkin: and, oh, what happened then was rich.
Munchkins: The house began to pitch / The kitchen took a slitch / It landed on the Wicked Witch in the middle of a ditch / Which was not a healthy situation for the Wicked Witch.
One final quote from the movie:
"Follow the yellow brick road."
That's taken from the Wizard of Oz. Judy Garland says it to her dog Toto. Great line (but ya gotta see the flick)
wow...never thought I'd hear this. It is from The Wizard Of Oz. Dorothy and her dog, Toto were picked up and moved into Oz from Kansas by a tornado. It's different and colorful and full of munchkins!! Therefore, Dorothy says the famous line...meaning that it is so much more different from the plains of Kansas.

it's actually from "The Wizard of Oz (1939)", when Dorothy crash-lands in Munchkin Land and comes out of her house. She remarks to Toto (her dog) that she doesn't think they are in Kansas anymore ... which is where they were before the tornado carried the house away.
nowadays, it means that we are "in unfamiliar territory".
It is from the Wizard of Oz, but what it means is that you suddenly find yourself in an unfamiliar situation or place. Very different from what you are used to.
It means that we're REALLY OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE NOW!

It originally is from The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy says it to Toto, her dog, when a tornado oh so rudely sweeps her house up and it lands in the land of Oz. It basically means "we are out of the norm" or " we aren't in a normal place".
