Do you know any nice english poems ?

Question:please inform me

Answers:
Nice? As in good or as in innocent?

Two of my all time favorites are "To His Coy Mistress" by Andrew Marvell and "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by S.T. Coleridge.
I like an obscure poet, Michael Whittock, from the Spanish Civil War era. His poetry makes me think of Billie Holliday singing.
enlgish language?

try - http://home.egge.net/~savory/poetry.htm...

the website has plenty from england, including WH Auden
also, it plays cool music :)
This is the only poem I remember. It is not by an Englishman, but an American. By a man named Ogden Nash.
" The cow is of the bovine ilk.
One end moo, the other milk."
I'm Aussie by the way. It's my favourite poem.
twinkle twinkle little star,
how i wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high.
like a diamond in the sky.
English language?
or English like from England?
I like The Fly, by Walter De La Mare

How large unto the tiny fly,
Must little things appear,
A rosebud like a feather bed,
Its prickle like a spear.

A dewdrop like a looking glass,
A hair like a golden wire,
The smallest grain of mustard seed,
As fierce as coals of fire.

A loaf of bread, A lofty hill,
A wasp, a cruel leopard,
Ans flecks of salt as bright to see,
As lambkins to a shepherd.

It puts things in perspective.

The other poem I really like is The Road Less Travelled, by Robert Frost.
The Cloud by Percy Bysshe Shelley is AMAZING
then the cliched ones..
Daffodils by Wordsworth.

A Psalm of Life by HW Longfellow..

these are the few I could think of off the top of my head.
chudasama deva the great poeat

ha. ha.. joke yaar
I know lots of English Poems, nice and ..
But anyway literature is mostly nice.

I saw that some friends (the 1st and the2nd) introduced you some sites, but I recommend you to by a book, such a book that is a collection of poems with some explanations on the poems and also some chapters on the elememnts of the poetry.
The book
"LITERATURE"
by
LAURENCE PERRINE
Southern Methodist University
seems to be good one; a very good one
It is in three volumes, and the second volume is on poem.
Volume 1:
Literature
Structure, Sound, and Sense
Volume 2:
Litrature
POETRY, The Elements of Poetry
Volume 3:
Literature
DRAMA, The Elements of Drama
I myself have used the second edition that is published in 1974, but surely there is a revised edition of it. Try it and the other ones like it.
If you are just interested in the titles, you can send me e-mail and I can send you back the texts of too many of them.
Good Luck!
