A saying about "humans destroy what they don't understand...?

Question:there is a saying in the window at the okc zoo in oklahoma as you are leaving through the gate. It says something long like "humans only protect what they understand, and they only understand what they see, and they destroy what they don't understand..."or something like that. it was really pretty and i loved it. any idea what the whole thing is?

Answers:
humans destroy things whose value they do not know. if only we understand how valuable the animals are to keep up the ecological balance, we would be much kinder to them! and once we realise the value of a thing, we tend to protect it !
My guess is- They want you to come to the zoo to understand the animals so you can be more aware of there existence and pay more attention to them in the big world. They have lives to live too! Understand the world so you can take care of the things in the world and in the end you will help make the world a better place for everyone to live in!
"Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures" says something like that. but u should go back to the zoo, it can't be that hard
I've heard a similar quote which says "people fear what they don't understand." It was from the X-men cartoon and Storm said it. I think it's a true quote. We do fear what we don't understand and when we fear something, if the fear is great enough, we want to destroy it.
