Answers:
It means to take a chance, where the odds would be against you.
Its to know or you think you know the out come of a situation and you or some one you know wants to change the out come of that situation. You might change it and if you don't . Keep in mind some these situation quit possably take your life . Temping fate ! Or to do it and tempt fate!
That you shouldn't say/wish that thing because it may come true. Or that you should think harder about what you're saying/wishing because it may happen.
... Mount yer girl doggie style. When you get on a roll, whisper in her ear.." Jesus honey! Your sister puts more effort into this than you do!" that's tempting fate.
As you grow older, it becomes harder to feel 100 percent happy; you learn all the things that can go wrong; you become superstitious about tempting fate, about bringing disaster upon your life by accidentally feeling too good one day.
