Can someone help to find the meaning of this quote and relate it to the real world?

Question:"Intelligence is quickness to apprehend as distinct from ability which is capacity to act wisely on the thing apprehended"
(Alfred N Whitehead)

Answers:
Intelligence is understanding your situation. Ability is acting appropriately to your understanding of the situation.

Ex. You're hanging around a bad crowd talking about senselessly murdering the next person who walks by...You understand that this is bad and you want nothing to do with it. Now, you must have the ability to act in a way that gets you safely out of the bad situation, and/or prevents it.
those who think well about their actions before doing them find it easier to sustain the consequences of their actions. Relate to a personal experience or the quickness of our sending troops to Iraq before thinking. Hope this helps ;)
The definition of 'apprehend' renders this quotation meaningless
