Answers:
It's from Psalms 23.
well basicly its more like the path to heaven and hell (meaning the valley). the light will guide you to heaven and somehow youll go to hell (dont know how that works). the valley is dark and eerie as if it were a scary movie (meaning death awaits). thats why in funerals they say somethign about guiding the sould through the valley of the shadow of death so it wont get lost and wont go to hell yada yada yada. its more of a hypothetical thing. i fear no evil... well.. the light will guide you no matter what so no need to fear... cuz your light is here. so there you go.
Psalm 23. Of course its open to interpretation, but it is basically saying that you can travel fearlessly through evil as long as your faith in God is strong and pure and you know He is by your side.
This is from a verse of the 23 Psalm which begins 'The Lord is my shepherd...'
I take it to mean that with Gods protection I have nothing to fear from evil or even death itself.
Although this is a Christian Psalm I'm sure other religions must have something similar.
well its a prayer for the decesses or dying. it is a way to deliever their spirit from evil. the mountain is life (i know theres no mountain in the prayer hold on) and inbetween mountains is a valley, a low point so think of a mountain as life and u peak and then desend until u hit the valley and u die. the shadow could mean the shadow of death is the mountain, ie life as u look back and so. and the shadow of death as a whole is the impending death that lurks closer. but u should not fear death b.c u are with god (if u get the prayer) and god will protect u from evil and stuff. look it up on the internet.
As others said, it is from the 23rd Psalms in the Bible. It means that, as death draws near, we don't have to be afraid. Nothing evil will happen to us, even when we die, if we are a child of God.
its from Pulp Fiction
