How would you interpret the quote "to each their own"?

I take "to each their own" as a way to say "ok, that's your opinion, and I respect that."
I guess it's like having a 'Just because I don't agree with you doesn't make what you do wrong.' outlook on things.
Some people like blue and some like red and that's ok (etc.)
I think it means to live you're life and let others live their life and not worry about what other people do. It's often said when you see things different from someone else, you may not understand why they do, act, or like something, however, it's their choice.
