I honestly don't know. At first I thought one of them had had an affair and he's saying he'll always be there for her no matter what. Then I listened carefully to his lovely voice. Basically, I think he's saying he loves her, he just wishes she were his true soulmate. Very difficult to figure out even in context with the other lines of the song.
