Hemingway was a highly creative person, and prided himself on it.one can not be 100% creative all the time.influences have to come some where.i believe what he meant was,if his writings or ideas were to be identified with another,he would be accused of stealing them or using them.this would have been devastating to him.if i have to use others ideas to be creative, then what's the point?
