Word help?

Question:what does the phrase "mind you P's and Q's" mean? For my summer reading list.

thanks

Answers:
it means to Pay attention.

It comes from the pubs, You were responsible for keeping track of your drinking, you had to mark it on a board. "P" was for a pint, "Q" is for a quart. So you had to "mind" (keep track of) your drinks.
It sort of means, mind your manners or pay attention to the details. I've heard it used both ways.

My mom would always tell me when I was visiting a friends house to "mind my p's and q's". (She wanted me to behave, be polite and be attentive to my behavior)
