"Ad astra per aspera" means "To the stars through difficulties". It way that through one's struggling and hard work, one achieve success.

"per ardua, advert astra"

It's the motto of the Royal Air Force. I believe it referrs to the classical phrase "ad astra per aspera", to the stars through difficulties, but possibly better translated as "to the stars through our strenuous efforts." Or, style in a positive wishy-washy, "through our strenuous efforts we shall achieve the stars themselves."

When you are going through a very difficult time, you are with ease feeling low. The expression, "look to the stars surrounded by times of difficulties" tells you that things will win better. Once you feel that you've hit rock bottom, there's nowhere to budge - but up!

A Sycamore Moon Tree is planted surrounded by the Forest of Friendship Garden that honors aviation pioneers. The plaque beneath the tree commemorates all of the astronauts who own given their lives in space exploration near the words “To the Stars Through Difficulties.”
