Do i put the period before or after "quotes"?

Question:

Answers:
before.
and quotation marks.
my teacher told us that all the time "a period goes after the quote".
Unlessthe statement inside is a question Like

"Where Is the cat ?".
the ? goes inside if it is a question in the quotes
It depends. If you're quoting something someone said, the period is before the quotes;

"Goodbye."

Otherwise, the period would be after the quotes.
Movies and songs are in quotes. Not underlined.
b4 if its a complete sentence.
You put the puntuation mark inside the quotation marks.
With the conventional rules, we underline the title of the books, movies, magazines, and any other publications. (Art work counts, too)
And period comes inside the quotation mark.
Ex. "I am a high school student."
Here is what I found in "The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation" and here is the link.

This site is a really good quick reference for Grammar and Punctuation rules. There is also a quick quiz you can take to see if you remember the rules you have just learned.

Rule 1
Periods and commas always go inside quotation marks, even inside single quotes.
Examples The sign changed from "Walk," to "Don't Walk," to "Walk" again within 30 seconds.
She said, "Hurry up."
She said, "He said, 'Hurry up.'"

Rule 2
The placement of question marks with quotes follows logic. If a question is in quotation marks, the question mark should be placed inside the quotation marks.
Examples She asked, "Will you still be my friend?"
Do you agree with the saying, "All's fair in love and war"?
Here the question is outside the quote.
NOTE Only one ending punctuation mark is used with quotation marks. Also, the stronger punctuation mark wins. Therefore, no period after war is used.

Rule 3
When you have a question outside quoted material AND inside quoted material, use only one question mark and place it inside the
quotation mark.
Example Did she say, "May I go?"

Rule 4
Use single quotation marks for quotes within quotes. Note that the period goes inside all quote marks.
Example He said, "Danea said, 'Do not treat me that way.'"

Rule 5
Use quotation marks to set off a direct quotation only.
Examples "When will you be here?" he asked.
He asked when you will be there.

Rule 6
Do not use quotation marks with quoted material that is more than three lines in length. Introduce the quotation with a colon and leave a blank line above and below the quoted material. Single space the quoted material. Some style manuals say to indent one-half inch on both the left and right margins; others say to indent only on the left margin. Quotation marks are not used.

Rule 7
When you are quoting something that has a spelling or grammar mistake or presents material in a confusing way, insert the term sic in italics and enclose it in brackets. Sic means, "This is the way the original
material was."
Example She wrote, "I would rather die then [sic] be seen wearing the same outfit as my sister has on."
Should be than, not then.

Hope this helps

Periods and commas always go on the inside of the quotation mark.

Following a form of to say, however, you'll almost always need a comma:

David always said, "Be yourself."

the quoted speech follows an independent clause yet could be part of the same sentence, use a colon to set off the quoted language:

My favorite quote from Shakespeare is : "This above all, to thine own self be true."

When an attribution of speech comes in the middle of quoted language, set it apart as you would any parenthetical element:
"I do not care," she said, "what you do with it."

I teach high school English. Trust me on this one.
It depends. If it's dialect, like when a character in a story speaks, then the punctuation goes inside the quotes. If the quotes surround something that someone else said, e.g. if you copy something from the internet, then the punctuation would go outside the quotations. The punctuation also goes outside the quotation marks if it is a phrase or term, like in your question. Songs, I'm almost positive, go in quotations, and I think movie titles also do, but I'm not certain on that one.
I believe all these answers are right for America. But I also believe it's different in the UK. I've heard that over there if the punctuation mark is actually part of the quote, it goes inside the quotes. Otherwise, it goes outside.

And, if you're reading a procedure that says:

Type "run".
Press "enter".

it's important not to indicate that a period needs to be typed.
