When I was little, my Dad who was a coal miner used to take me on long walks whilst my mum got dinner ready. He loved being out in the fresh air (understandably) and we would yomp about all over the place. When I started moaning about my legs aching he would say,'To rest is not to conquer' and I'd have to carry on. We always ended up at a pub and then I could sit outside with my bottle of pop while my Dad enjoyed his pint of beer. I think the quote originally came from Julius Caesar. I think of it often when I'm doing a job I don't particularly enjoy. Just get on with it and it will soon be done.

I've got a couple really. The one that makes me smile and I have used many times is a quote from General Patton during the Battle of the Bulge, WW2, "I'm not retreating, I'm just advancing in a different direction". The one that inspired me the most is from Henry Ford, "If you think you can, or if you think you can't, you're probably right"...Best Wishes.
