I think i agree. It seems to be saying that if you're writing an autobiography you believe you have something important to pass on to the rest of the world. You shouldn't then try to hide, ignore, or cover up any negative or private areas of your life. If you're going to tell people about yourself you've got to tell it all; no excuses, no omitions
