There are many people that think that they are thinking (i.e. having original thoughts) when in fact they are only rephrasing the prejudices that already have in order to fit them to the situation.
Such as when someone tells you an idea you first reference the person telling you the idea then you reference it to any ideas you have previously heard and compare then you take the preconceived ideas about the person and the idea and rearrange them to fit the situation. It is a lot easier then actually thinking about the idea itself.
I am not saying it is bad to start out by comparing it to previous experience but you must also think about the idea independently.
