"Adversity makes one wise, not rich" please give me some ideas about this quotation...?

Interesting, I just came up with this thought the other day in essence. Let me fill you in...

I've worked at this same place the last two (well three but thats not important) summers. There is only one road that goes by the building, main street. This is a pretty small town so you use main street to go everywhere, specifically to lunch.

It turns out that this year the town has decided to repave the road. Due to this construction it is a tremendous pain in the *** to get to lunch because you have to take a really awful detour.

At any rate, I found myself thinking the other day, "Boy I sure did not appreciate last summer the ease I had getting to lunch. What I would do to have that back."

You don't appreciate something until adversity comes knocking. This is because when you have difficulties, you become cognizant.

Hope this helps you with your thoughts
Seems true to me. . .

Having to sort through difficulties and horrors makes a person able to do better next time there is a similar problem..And, guaranteed there will be more!

Riches come from a good idea turned into a product or service, and then worked at for long enough to bring in the profits therefrom.

I like the quote.
If you are looking for the source, I'm somewhat sure that googling for it, especially surrounding parts you are certain about with quotation marks, should provide much info on the source of the quote.
all i can say is I remember Sudan, Darfur whenever my pocket and fridge get empty.i work harder to overcome this with joy that i dont have to run for life from guns.
Adversity (problems, trials, hard times, bad times) cause one to kick in to a survival type mode. When you are in these kinds of times, you buckle down with everything you have to think through, work it out, and MAKE IT THROUGH these "adversities". Once you've come through, you are more experienced and sharper in your mind and automatically know more efficiently how to handle hard times coming up in the future. Might be referred to as "street smarts" or "common sense".

It reminds me of the quote: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. -- It's about learning to survive wisely, not about getting rich.

Although, I would dare to say that one who's never experienced and come through adversities will be less likely to become rich.
Adversity that one did not ask for creates anger.
Secondly, Richness is spiritual, Physical and literal...
Yeah. i love this quote. Once beaten, twice shy. what did not kill you makes you really stronger. just like tough times never last but tough people do. when you pass through a problem, it makes you avoid similar mistake in future thereby making you 1% wiser than before.
