Question:When I read this, I thought it was funny, but then I wondered if it was a reference to something that I wasn't getting. anyone got a clue? I'd love to quote it on my webpage, but I want to make sure I give credit, ya know?
Answers:
It's from a classic Far Side cartoon by Gary Larson. As I recall, the orchestra maestro has just arrived in hell, and the devil is handing him an accordian (although I may be confusing it with a cartoon about a banjo band).
There are references on the web if you search for "far side hell accordion", but I couldn't find the actual cartoon in 30 seconds...
Richard is correct. It is from Gary Larson's "The Far Side". The full quote is:
"Welcome to heaven, here's your harp. /
Welcome to hell, here's your accordion."
